Man On The Horizon
Alone I trench across the desert of loneliness,
Keeping one hand over my eyes as I look for love.
Praying that the sand dunes will end one day,
And I will find shelter from the lonely sun above.
A dream once assured me a man is out here,
Out here in the desert, trenching without relent.
For centuries ago we first met in a distant land,
And the world saw timeless love, heaven sent.
Years have passed and I watch my hopes wane,
Yet dream a beautiful creature will one day show.
A knight of noble grace, strength, and thought,
Standing by my side no matter how winds blow.
I see a man on the horizon, fear floods me over,
So much I fight to not believe in the man I see.
For if I don't believe, I will not get hurt again,
As I do when I go ahead with hope and glee.
Mirage after mirage proved to me I should stop,
For every false hope only made me more jaded.
However I trench on, waiting for the day of rest,
As I lie in the warm arms of the dream not faded.
Before I take another step toward him I pray,
That god be gentle on my soul for I do my best.
Pray that forever more I shall search for love,
Even if he disappears and is just another test.
