Fool for Love

foolforloveI'm not a fan of short story collections, or at least not until this. Short stories, for me, are the cocktease of literature: they give you just enough to get you going and then they stop. However, Fool for Love, an anthology of sixteen short stories, was a great read (well, a series of great reads).

They're all romance stories, so if you're jaded and cynical and want to stay that way, read something else. If you're jaded and cynical and want your faith restored, then there's something here for you. If you've never given up on love, then this is justification for you. If you're lucky enough to have been in love, then you will find, in these pages, situations you remember.

What I liked the most is that there are so many different takes on romance. Sure, there's the love at first sight stories, but there's also stories of love at the end of a long and happy life. There's grief and sadness and loss, yet love shines through. There's love from the closet, there's love from the dance floor. There's the desperation for something more, that love rewards. There's the resistance to anything, that love wears down.

This collection of authors has lived and loved, and they're all combined here in one grand romantic volume, perfect for picking up and taking to the beach or pak this summer. Just while you're reading it, don't forget to look around you. You never known when some passer-by might meet your eyes and fall in love.

This has been a bobert review.
