Edmonton Pride Festival

The Festival is organized by The Edmonton Pride Festival Society (EPFS), which was formed in 1999.The Society is the official non-profit organization that manages the organizing and executing of Pride celebrations in the Capital Region each year. The society’s mission is to celebrate and bring together the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, their family, friends, co-workers, supporters, the business community and the community at large in a spirit of camaraderie, honor, pride and respect. The festival takes place in June each year.

HIV Edmonton

We are a community-based, not-for-profit organization that works to reduce HIV/AIDS related stigma and discrimination. Working collaboratively with many community partners we used evidence-based research and remain ahead of the curve on the latest HIV/AIDS information.

The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose

The ISCWR is the oldest GLBT organization in Alberta and is one of the oldest chapters in the second largest GLBT organization in the world known as the International Court System. The “Court” helps raise the consciousness of the larger community to the existence of the GLBT community and provides the community with countless hours of entertainment while raising thousands of dollars each year in support of local charities.

The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), which is housed in the Faculty of Education, University of Alberta, employs a uniquely holistic model that brings to bear all of the strengths of research, teaching, advocacy, policy-making, and community outreach to develop programs to protect and meet the needs of sexual and gender minority (SMGV) youth and young adults. These programs, supports, and services include:
· Camp fYrefly – Canada’s largest national leadership retreat for SMGV youth;

· Youth Intervention and Outreach Worker Program – providing professional supports and services for SMGV youth, families, and community agencies in the Edmonton region;

· Educational workshops on SMGV issues for campus, professional, and community groups;

· Support for gay-straight student alliances in local schools;

- fYrefly in Schools, a peer-to-peer educational program for junior and senior high schools;

· Safe Spaces Initiative at the UofA;

· The annual Michael Phair Leadership Award for undergraduate students; and

· Inside/OUT Speakers’ Series.

The MacEwan Diversity Project aims to bring visibility and resources to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirited, queer, questioning, (LGBTTQ) and allied communities. With a growing LGBTTQ student body at Grant MacEwan University we strive to educate MacEwan students, staff, and faculty about the community.

JTMF West is a fundraising organization, established to raise funds for HIV/AIDS and LGBT youth support services while celebrating local Edmonton artists. Again in 2012, these funds will go to support the invaluable programs and services provided by HIV Edmonton and Camp fYrefly, Canada's only leadership retreat for LGBT youth.

JTMF West hosts an annual event called Artists for Life each spring and raised over $16,500 through the 2012 event.  “Like” us on Facebook to get information on our 2013 event!

JTMF West is proud to partner with HIV Edmonton and Camp fYrefly, to raise funds and awareness, to remove stigma and eradicate discrimination, provide people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS with support and love, and to create an environment for our youth that is free from ignorance and fear. Making Waves Swim Club

Making Waves Swim Club is Edmonton's masters swim club for the gay and lesbian community and their friends. Since 1999, our mission has been to promote the masters' swimming philosophy of "Fun, Fitness, Friendship & Participation" in a gay positive and supportive environment for all swimmers.

We offer two practices a week with friendly and supportive coaches for both novice and competitive swimmers and organize social events outside the pool for our swimmers and their friends.

Womonspace is a social and recreational society that was founded in 1981 to serve the needs of the lesbian community in Edmonton and area.   Our members participate in events such as dances, games night, family skating party, annual golf tournament and also interact with and support organizations in the community such as HIV Edmonton, The Pride Centre, ERBA and Camp FyreFly. 

As we begin our next 30 years we are looking to increase the scope of our activities in order to provide a non-threatening way for women to meet other women in a comfortable recreational atmosphere.   We are excited about being able to utilize the excellent facilities available at HIV Edmonton and will host activities such as potluck suppers, movie nights, crib and scrabble tournaments, coffee house/jam sessions, etc.


Youth Understanding Youth

Youth Understanding Youth is a volunteer grassroots community organization that has been in operation for over 10 years. It was created by a group of adult volunteers who recognized the need to provide social and support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, two-spirited, queer, asexual, allied and questioning youth in Edmonton and surrounding communities. The goal of YUY has always been a simple one: to ensure that regardless of what is happening in the lives of young people, they will know that there is always a safe space for them for at least two hours each week.
